The Journal Title : The Arabian Journal of Geographical Information Systems
The Objectives :
Publish the original researches in the geographic systems arena and the relevant
technologies, including the geographic information systems, cartography,
surveying, remote sensing, the geographical position system (GPS), modeling, and
the geographical applications utilizing all of the geographical systems and
techniques locally in the KSA and abroad in the Arab World.
The Journal Language :
Both Arabic and English Languages.

Support and Finance:
The Saudi Geographic Society (Perhaps some of the characters and parties
supporting the scientific research).
The Editor staff:
1- The editor staff comprised of five distinguished members among the professors
and associate professors.
2- The scientific editing authority chairman shall hold a professor or
equivalent degree.
3- The Journal might have a specialized administrative editor manager, not
necessarily holding a higher scientific designation, who shall be entrusted with
administrative and office works, providing the relevant scientific facilities
for the journal.
4- The editor staff shall outline the rules, and scientific policy for the
Journal, selecting the researches viable for release prior to arbitration,
provided none of them shall be part of the arbitration process.
5- The Saudi Geographic administrative board shall select the editor staff,
designating their specialties.
6- The editing staff membership shall be limited for two years, renewable by a
decision from the administrative board.
The Journal Consultative Authority:
1- A scientific consultative authority shall be assigned to the Journal among
the academically distinguished professors and participant professors locally and
abroad.
2- The consultative authority shall assess the Journal, providing the scientific
advise for the submitted researches.
3- The consultative authority members shall arbitrate according to their
specialties, or referring to other arbitrators.
4- The editing staff shall nominate the scientific consultative authority,
approved by the Saudi geographic society administrative board.
5- The consultative authority membership shall be limited for three years,
renewable by a decision issued by the administrative board.
The Researches Arbitration:
The researches suitable for release, selected by the editing staff, shall be
forwarded to at least two arbitrators (2) in same specialty whether locally or
abroad prior to publishing in the Journal. In case of any dispute between the
two arbitrators, it shall be referred to a third arbitrator for final
settlement.
Releases and Publishing
1- The Journal shall be submitted to the scientific senate upon the release of
six volumes (6) for approval to publish the relevant teaching staff researches.
2- The Journal shall be distributed among the professionals.
3- The Saudi Geographic Society administrative board shall determine the
distribution method, along with sale prices.
The Publication Rules:
1- The researches published in the Journal shall abide by the scientific genuity,
and linguistic viability.
2- The researches submitted to the Journal should not be previously published.
3- The researches submitted should be addressed to the editing staff chairman.
4- All of the originals should be submitted in MS Word format, under Windows,
with A4 size. The printing shall be single face, with line and half spacing,
font Al-Hotham for the main text, and Monotype Koufi for the headers, font size
16, white for the main text, and 12 white for the margins (black font for the
Quranic verses, and noble prophet sayings). The research shall never exceed 60
pages.
5- The research original along with two copies, and extract of (250) words with
bilingual languages Arabic and English should be submitted.
6- The figures should be printed in Chinese ink, or computer [ Clearly typed,
original copy], typed on calc papers 13x18 cm, the original figures should be
attached to the research, and should never be pasted in their locations.
7- The researches suitable for release, selected by the editing staff, should be
forwarded to at least two arbitrators (2) in same specialty whether locally or
abroad prior to publishing in the Journal
8- The Journal editing staff shall notify the research authors with the receipt
date, as well as the final decision relating to the research publishing
admission if any.
9- The researches, reviews, and reports shall never be retuned to their authors
whether published or not.
10- Each main scholar(s) shall be provided with twenty five copies (25) of the
published research.
11- Referring to references rules shall be implemented as follows:
The (Name / Date) designation shall be utilized, in which the reference is
indicated in the main text between brackets, with the editor name, followed by
page number. Should the same editor repeated in two different references, the
editor name followed by the year and page number to be mentioned. The reference
list shall be serially sorted according to their types as follows :-
Volumes The editor’s family name to be listed (the first editor in case of
several editors) followed by first name, publishing year between brackets, book
title, release no. (for releases 2 & further), the publisher, publishing city.
Inverted comma shall separate each information data.
Periodicals The editor’s family name to be listed followed by first name,
publishing year between brackets, topics title, periodical title, volume no.,
Part no, then the topic pages numbers. (pp 5-15).
Edited Volumes The editor’s family name to be listed followed by first name,
publishing year between brackets, chapter title, the preposition “in”
underlined, followed by the editor’s family name, then the first names, as well
as the participant editors, then (ed. Or eds), book title, volume no., edition
no, then the publisher name and city.
Unpublished Thesis The editor family name followed by the first names, degree
acquirement date in brackets, thesis title, type (Master/ PHD), University and
city where it is located.
The margins shall never be used unless it is vital, assigned for the comments,
and applications necessary to exemplify the text. The margins shall be referred
with a serial number between brackets at the end of the statement. The remarks
shall be recorded at the footer with serial numbers for each page.
12- The following abbreviations shall be used in case the documented information
is lacking:
a. Without Publishing Date = W/o P.D.
b. Without Publishing Location = w/o P.L.
c. Without Publisher Name = w/o P.N.
d. Without Pager number = w/o page N.
The Journal Covers
The Journal shall have two covers. The first cover shall have information in
Arabic language, while the second page includes same information in English,
according to the attached figure.
First: The Cover:
1- The Saudi geographical society slogan shall be placed at the right corner of
the Arabic cover, while the KSU slogan at the left corner of the same page.
2- The Journal title shall be placed at the higher middle of Andalus font, size
18.
3- Placed a line under the heading with thick font and colored brown.
4- Under the line come the, volume Vo., edition year in Arabic and English
languages (Simplified Arabic).
5- A thin black line shall be placed underneath paragraph (4).
6- The research heading shall be in simplified Arabic font name size 14, and
white background.
7- Under item (6), a brown thick font shall be placed.
8- Under the brown font, the statement “Biannual Journal published by the SGS,
with Simplified Arabic font, size 14.
9- All of the fonts shall be black.
Second: The Back Face of the Cover:
At the backface of the cover, above a white background a set of listed with
black font shall be printed according to the following
1- The first list: Name of the Editing staff, and executive positions for each.
2- The second list: listed on the internal cover backface, incluing the name of
the administrative board, and administrative positions for each.
3- A the upper right corner of the internal cover, the SSN of the Journal shall
be printed.
4- At the upper right corner of the main internal cover with black font, the
following statement shall be printed:
“All of the opinions listed in the Journal represents their editor’s point of
view, and never represents the editing staff or the SGS”.
5- At the left side of a rectangle of the backface of the main cover, the
correspondent addresses shall be printed in black font.
6- Such information shall be translated to English language, printed in black
font according to the priorities and specifications listed at the backside of
the Arabic cover.
Thirdly: In the Name of Allah, Statement
Following the internal cover, a page assigned to In the Name of Allah statement
both in Arabic and English covers.
Fourth: The Publishing Rules
At the backside of the In of Allah page, the publishing rules shall be printed
as indicated above.
Fifth: Table of Contents:
The Table of Contents shall be placed after the publishing rules pages including
the scientific topic title, scholar name, page number. In case of English
content, a table of content by English to be listed following the In the name of
Allah name page.
Sixth: The Research main context
The research shall be printed after modifications, auditing and approval by the
editing staff, completing the required procedures to acquire approval form the
concerned parties.
At the bottom of the first page of each article an instroduction of the author
will be mentioned including the academic degree, and department belonging to.
Seventh: The Research Abstract
An abstract shall be printed on a separate and the end page in Arabic language,
as well as English language at the beginning and the end of the articles,
depending on the language of the research.
Eighth : The Sale and Advertisement Prices:
A page following the main context shall be allocated for a list of subscription
charges, and sales. As well as spaces for relevant advertisement to be
determined by the technical editing staff.

3- Researches
4- Book reviews
5- Reports.
6- Readers letters
7- Advertisements.
